The University of Cologne, Germany, invites applications for a faculty position at the Associate Professor level (W2) in Supply Chain Management.

The positions are available April 2019 or based on mutual agreement.

This call is part of the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States. It addresses researchers at an early career stage.

The University of Cologne is one of Germany’s leading research universities and part of the Federal Excellence Cluster. Its Business School is consistently ranked among the top schools in research and teaching. The Supply Chain Management area is one of largest Supply Chain Management areas in Germany and consists of 10 professors and more than 20 researchers. The Supply Chain Management area has close ties with industry partners and focuses on research that has impact in practice. Its members publish regularly in the full range of top journals in the field, including Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management.

Candidates should have a solid background in Supply Chain Management or closely related areas. Current or future publications in highly ranked international journals are expected. The Supply Chain Management area offers courses at the undergraduate, master, and Ph.D. level. The candidates are expected to teach some of these classes. The teaching language is primarily English. International experience, such as a Ph.D. from a leading international university or substantial international teaching experience is appreciated.

The research focus of candidates should complement the existing research areas of the faculty. The candidate should be interested, for instance, in Behavioral Operations Management, Business Analytics, Optimization, or Empirical Operations Management.

At the latest in the fifth year after entering into office, a final evaluation will be held according to the Regulations for Quality Assurance in Tenure Track Procedures at the University of Cologne. On this basis, a decision will be reached as to whether the candidate will be given tenure at W2 level.
