As part of the Federal-State-Programme of funding of young scientists (Tenure Track Programme), the Institute of Concrete Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, invites applications for the
initially limited to a six-year contract, to be filled as soon as possible.
In being appointed to the chair, evaluation criteria will be mutually agreed upon, which will be evaluated by a TU Dresden evaluation commission at the latest in the fifth year of the chair.
Essential elements of the evaluations will be the development of a relevant and independent research profile by means of high-quality publications, raising of third-party research funds and related project leadership, the successful development of innovative components in academic training programmes, as well as the establishment of national and international cooperations. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent chair (W2) of Carbon Concrete will be granted without a renewed selection process.
Carbon concrete is a rather young construction material. However, it is in evidence that this construction method will be part of building activities in a long term and that basic research in carbon concrete is required. During the temporary chair, the applicant must prove that she/he is capable of widely representing the subject area of Carbon Concrete with commitment to research and teaching. The applicant will be expected to acquire third-party funding, such as the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry for Education and research (BMBF) or the European Commission (EC). Regarding experimental investigations, the holder of this position gets the opportunity to use the excellently equipped Otto Mohr Laboratory. The teaching activities particularly extend to the diploma degree programmes of Civil Engineering including Distance Learning in German and the master’s degree programme ACCESS (Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies) in English. A high level of readiness to coperate with professorial chairs and other institutes in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and with other Faculties of TU Dresden as well as cooperation with non-university research institutions in the environment of the TU Dresden, play an important role. The duties include participation in academic selfadministration.
Several years of experience in the planning or execution of concrete structures are required. Excellent knowledge and experience are expected in the fields of Carbon Concrete including theoretical investigations and practical use. Furthermore, she/he is expected to have knowledge and experience in teaching. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Higher Education Act of the Free State of Saxony – SächsHSFG).
