Junior Professor in Accounting

The Gutenberg School of Management and Economics at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is seeking applications for the position of a

Junior Professor in Accounting
(Salary level W 1 with tenure track to a W 2 Position)
to be appointed in the summer term 2020

The junior professor is expected to represent the field of accounting. For this purpose, it is possible to focus in research and teaching either on financial accounting, managerial accounting or Taxation.

We are looking for candidates that are able to conduct research at the highest scientific level in the field of accounting. Candidates are expected to have international visibility, a high quality dissertation, and high quality research papers. The junior professor has teaching obligations in the Bachelor's programme in business and economics as well as in the Master's and doctoral programmes. A committed attitude in academic teaching and the willingness and ability to teach courses in German and English are expected. Participation in the university research focus group "Interdisciplinary Public Policy" is desired.

The professorship is funded by the Federal-Länder Programme for the Promotion of Young Academics. Scientists in the early stages of their careers are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. In addition to the general employment requirements, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in Section 54 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz).

As written in Section 55 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz) Junior professors are initially appointed civil servants for a period of three years. After a successful interim evaluation, the employment contract is usually extended by a further three years. After a final successful evaluation as junior professor after six years and provided that the general requirements are fulfilled, the candidate will qualify for appointment to a tenured professorship (W2)

 The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz represent a concept of intensive student support and therefore expect a high presence of teaching staff at the University.
