The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technische Universität Braunschweig invites applications for a

Junior Professorship in “Systems Biotechnology” (W1 with Tenure Track W2)

funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States (”WISNA”) to start as soon as possible.

The junior professor joins the Institute of Biochemical Engineering and will actively involve in the interdisciplinary Carolo-Wilhelmina-Research Centres „Braunschweig Integrated Centre for Systems Biology“ (BRICS) and „Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering “ (PVZ).

The junior professor in systems biotechnology shall focus her or his research on experimental methods aiming at a quantitative description of biotechnological production or application systems for pharmaceutical products.

The applicants should develop unique expertise in at least two of the following research fields:

  • metabolomics analytics utilizing coupled mass spectrometric methods,
  • metabolic engineering, or
  • profiling of metabolic networks.

In addition, the junior professor will contribute teaching mainly to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, particularly in specialized subjects on MSc level. In addition, the junior professor will actively strive for third party funding.

We are seeking scientists with a very good dissertation in biochemical engineering or similar fields and excellent publication record during the PostDoc phase. International experience is highly desired.

The junior professor´s initial appointment is limited to three years. After a positive evaluation, the appointment will be extended by three more years. In accordance with the tenure track statues of TU Braunschweig, the appointment will be tenured at the level W2 after a positive final evaluation. The requirements of the position are defined in Section 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz).
