(W1 with tenure-track W2) ,
with a specialization in Sustainability Management

This position is originally limited to six years, but allows for a tenure procedure, which, if successful, leads to a tenured associate professorship (W2). The position can be filled immediately.

Successful candidates (m/f/d) represent the topic of sustainability management in research and teaching with a business focus. They cover sustainability management from the perspective of at least two, preferably three, functional areas of business administration (e.g., strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, marketing, process man-agement, management accounting) and under consideration of the Sustainable Development Goals. A creative, yet consistent research and teaching program is expected, which is compatible with the School’s other research groups, especially those in the above-mentioned functional areas. The appointed professor helps establish the School’s new focus on sustainability in research and teaching (also in co-operation with other departments), offers new courses in the School’s bachelor’s and master’s programs. At least in the master’s programs, courses are expected to be held in English. The successful applicant is expected to actively participate in research alliances and in research focuses of the School of Business and Economics as well as the University of Marburg.

This call for applications for the qualification professorship is explicitly directed at researchers in early career phases. Therefore, previous employment as a post-doctoral researcher must not exceed four years. Furthermore, the applicant has not received a PhD from Philipps-Universität or must have worked outside of Philipps-Universität for at least two years after completing the PhD (§ 64 (3) HHG). We are looking for a personality with excellent scientific achievements and an innovative scientific profile that demonstrates the potential for a further successful career in science at the highest international level.

Applicants must have a degree in business administration, an outstanding doctorate in a business-related field, and an empirical orientation in research, together with a solid foundation in decision theory. Pedagogical aptitude and international experience in research and/or teaching are expected. Experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funds will be considered an asset.

The employment requirements of §§ 61, 62 and especially 64 HHG apply. If the requirements under civil service law are met, the successful candidate will be made a temporary civil servant for a period of up to six years. In the event of a positive evaluation of professional, pedagogical, and personal aptitude, the appointment will be made a civil servant for life, combined with the transfer to a W2 professorship.
