in » Urban Productive Ecosystems «

to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.

Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the Research Departments Plant Sciences and/or Ecology and Ecosystem Management within the TUM School of Life Sciences.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of urban forestry, urban agriculture/farming, and/or urban horticulture with a focus on exploring the structure-function relationships in urban productive ecosystems, their role in the urban metabolism and provision of ecosystem services. The new professorship is expected to devise strategies for the development of sustainable productive urban ecosystems. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for internationally competitive, independent research. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
