Tenure Track Professorship “Theory of Partial Differential Equations”

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Sciences, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg and the University Council, seeks to fill a

Tenure Track Professorship “Theory of Partial Differential Equations”,

effective 1 April 2021.

The position is funded in the context of the joint program for the promotion of early-career researchers by the German federal and state-governments (“Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des Wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses”).

The successful candidate is an internationally renowned specialist for the analysis of partial differential equations. The department expects outstanding expertise in core areas that cooperatively complement our existing research themes, and an active participation in our priority area „Analysis and Numerics“ that focuses on the theory and numerics of partial differential equations. As a key part of her or his duties, the new professor will represent this area in her/his teaching and properly contribute to the general teaching duties of the department in its Bachelor and Master programmes.

Recruitment requirements are a university degree and doctorate in mathematics or a closely related study program and an excellent international publication record.

The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor. If the evaluation is positive, the candidate obtain tenure as a W3 professor after completing a simplified version of the professorial appointment process.
