which is to be filled at the earliest possible date. The position includes teaching and research duties in the following fields of Casting Materials and Casting Processes:

- Development of material adapted production processes
- Automation of casting processes
- Interconnection of simulation of casting processes and microstructure formation

We are looking for applicants having expertise in foundry technology. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogic skills, including the competence to teach in German and English, are also prerequisites. Practical experience foundry industry is welcome.

The professorship is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is intended to offer new career opportunities for scientists at an early-stage of their career. Applicants are expected to have worked scientifically or in technology outside the TU Bergakademie Freiberg for at least two years.

Initially, the position will be a W2-professorship for three years, which will be extended for another three years after a successful evaluation. In the second phase of the W2-professorship, a tenure-track evaluation will be conducted in order to decide, if the requirements for a permanent W3-professorship have been met. The evaluation criteria based on research, teaching, academic self-administration and knowledge transfer. Based on international standards and transparent performance agreements, TU Bergakademie Freiberg ensures a fair tenure-track evaluation process. This includes publication of the own research in peer-reviewed journals, successful fundraising, establishing of sustainable scientific co-operations and promotion of young scientists.

The applicant must fulfil the general criteria for an appointment as a professor according to § 58 of the SächsHSFG, Higher education act of Saxony in its currently valid and applicable version. The regulations of the SächsHSFG apply, cf. § 69 Abs. 3 SächsHSFG. TU Bergakademie Freiberg offers a programme that support the young professors.
