The Faculty of Physics invites applications for a
Tenure Track Professorship for
Semiconductor Spectroscopy
(W1 Tenure Track to W2)
to be filled in the winter term 2020/21. This professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States and is initially limited to six years.
The successful applicant (m/f/d) is expected to strengthen the research priorities of the Faculty of Physics by establishing an independent research group in the field of experimental physics and to actively participate in research alliances and initiatives of the Faculty of Physics and the University of Marburg.
Research of the successful applicant should focus on semiconductor spectroscopy, in particular on spectroscopy of innovative semiconductor materials like perovskites or two-dimensional layers of transition metal dichalcogenides. Expertise in the field of III-V-semiconductors and/or in the field of organic semiconductors is desirable. Experience in working with interfaces, hybrid systems or materials for energy generation and storage is regarded as an asset. In the field of spectroscopy, experience in time-resolved luminescence and in microscopical techniques is desirable. The systems studied or the methods applied should complement existing research at the department.
This call is explicitly aimed at researchers in the early stages of their scientific careers. The duration of the employment in research and science after obtaining the doctoral degree should not exceed four years. Furthermore, applicants should not have received their doctorate at the University of Marburg. In case the doctoral degree was obtained at the University of Marburg, the applicant should have worked in research and science outside of the University of Marburg for at least two years thereafter (in accordance with § 64 Abs. 3 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz HHG, the State of Hessen Higher Education Act).
We are looking for a personality with initial outstanding scientific achievements and an innovative scientific profile that demonstrates the potential for a further successful career in science at the highest international level. Prerequisites are a university degree in physics, an excellent doctorate and a particular pedagogical aptitude. The applicant is expected to show exceptional initiative in the independent acquisition of external research funding.
The employment requirements of §§ 61, 62 and especially 64 HHG apply. The Tenure Track professorship is initially a grade W1 fixed term (6 years) position. If the requirements under general German civil service law are met, the applicant shall be granted a temporary civil service status for a period of six years. In the event of a positive evaluation of professional, pedagogical and personal aptitude, the applicant will be granted a civil service status for life, combined with the assignment of a W2/W3 permanent professorship.
