Tenure-track professorship of Sociology of Disability and Social Disadvantage

A tenure-track-professorship with the denomination "Sociology of Disability and Social Disadvantage" is available at the Faculty of Special Education at Ludwigsburg University of Education as of the next possible date.

The subject "Sociology of Disability and Social Disadvantage" at the Faculty of Special Education of Ludwigsburg University of Education enables a unique linkage of sociological questions, theories and research methods with participation-scientific, special and inclusive educational questions and aspects in the German university landscape. The tenure-track-professorship to be filled offers great development opportunities in this field of tasks and topics in a stimulating and dynamic working context at the Faculty of Special Education of Ludwigsburg University of Education.

Responsibilities: teaching classes in the subject of Sociology of disability and social disadvantage (up to the interim evaluation 4, then 6 credit hours per week per semester (SWS)); teaching, advising students and taking on exams in the special education teaching courses and in the master’s degree in social work in special educational fields; accompanying and advising students in study-related projects and internships and contribution to the university’s self-governance; acquisition of third-party funds is expected.

Requirements: academic degree in sociology and qualified doctorate; areas of specialization with affinity to the denomination (e.g. sociology of social inequality, poverty/exclusion, disability studies/cultural sociology, legal and professional sociology of educational professions including social work), experience and knowledge in special education fields of action; expertise in methods of empirical social research (qualitative and/or quantitative research methods); prerequisites for tenure-track-professorships according to § 51 LHG BW.

The tenure track position is created in the context of the joint programme of the federal government and the Länder to promote early-stage researchers. Please note the required qualifications and other requirements set out in section 51 LHG. The successful applicant will receive a fixed-term contract either as a civil servant (“BeamtIn”) with set tenure or as a public employee (“Angestellte/r”). In case of successful (final) review, the person will be appointed as a W3 professor with a permanent contract (without a further application requirement) in an appropriately simplified appointment procedure as set out in section 48 subsection 1 LHG.
