As part of the federal and state program for the advancement of junior scholars, Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty I, Humanities and Educational Sciences, currently has a vacancy at the Institute of Vocational Education and Work Studies for a

tenure track professorship, remuneration group W1, fixed term, to be continued as a life-time professorship, remuneration group W3 in "Didactics in the field of Building – Design – Environment".

This professorship should be seen in the context of Technische Universität Berlin’s goal to recruit and advance junior scholars in the early stage of their career. The tenure track professorship is initially limited to three years. The position shall be renewed for a further three years conditional upon the postholder’s performance and agreement. After six years, as a rule, a lifelong professorship will be offered conditional upon the fulfillment of the determined evaluation criteria and hiring requirements for a lifelong professorship. Working field: The professorship "Didactics in the field of Building – Design – Environment" shall be represented in its full research and teaching area of teaching related Bachelor and Master study programs. The research topics include the:

  • curriculum and professional field,
  • vocational didactic teaching,
  • action oriented learning,
  • specific vocational education and training (VET).

Research topics should consider the following priorities for the domain Building – Design – Environment:

  • vocational education and training for sustainable development
  • digitization of professional work and education
  • internationalization of work and vocational education and training,
  • gender and diversity covering issues of migration, integration, heterogeneity, language education,
  • teacher education in the specific discipline of building - design - environment.

The tenure track professorship is associated with 4 hours of lectures and seminars per week in the first three years, and 6 hours per week after interim evaluation in the fourth to sixth year. Lectures have to be conducted primarily in the Mas-ter's and Bachelor's degree programs of the assigned professional fields.

Requirements: The candidate must fulfill the hiring requirements pursuant to Section 102c Berlin State Higher Educa-tion Act in combination with Section 102a Berlin State Higher Education Act. Of particular importance are a university degree, a strong aptitude for research demonstrated, as a rule, by an outstanding doctorate in didactics of one of the assigned professional fields (construction technology, color technology and interior design, agriculture, wood technology etc.) or a related subject as well as teaching skills demonstrated by a teaching portfolio (for further information about the portfolio, see Technische Universität      Berlin’s website,https://www.tu-berlin.de/menue/university_institutions/executive_board/projekte_des_praesidiums/neuberufene/berufungsportal/applying_for_a_professorship/teaching_portfolio/parameter/de/ or quick access 144242). Relevant practical experience in vocational schools and in teacher training as well as in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects are welcome.
