The University of Education Freiburg is an educational science university with university profile and the right to award doctorates and post-doctoral degrees. This professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States.

Responsibilities:

The future holder of the position represents music and its didactics in the fields of music education and musicology in research and teaching. The responsibilities include a teaching load of 4 SWS, after positive completion of the interim evaluation designed as a feedback procedure 6 SWS, the practical supervision of students, empirical research, acquisition of external research funds, examination activities and participation in the academic self-administration.

Requirements:

The following prerequisites are required: a completed relevant university degree; a special aptitude for research, which is usually evidenced by the outstanding quality of a doctorate and/or publications; pedagogical aptitude, usually evidenced by university experience; and teaching experience of usually three years. Furthermore, the willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation and the consideration of gender-related issues in research and teaching is expected. Moreover, special expertise in the area of pending future topics such as digitaliza-tion, interculturality, inclusion and/or didactics of popular music is much desirable.

The duration of the employment as an academic staff member before or after the doctorate, the doctoral and employment phases together should not exceed six years.

The tenure-track professorship is limited to six years. In the event of a positive evaluation, the tenure-track professor will be appointed to a permanent W3 professorship.
