Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities, which encompasses the whole range of academic disciplines. After its application to the federal-state programme for the promotion of early career researchers has been accepted, RUB is currently implementing 18 new tenure-track professorships. Following a successful tenure evaluation, the respective tenure-track professor will subsequently be awarded permanent tenure.
The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Ruhr-Universität Bochum will be awarding a
anticipated start date: 1 May 2021.
The future tenure-track professor will be representing the field of Infrastructure and Environment in education and research.
Based on your methological skills, the professorship for environmental computer science is to establish a research focus with respect to the processing of spatiotemporal environmental data and the development of the information technological basis for complex environmental simulation models (data integration and visualization). While one objective is to expand the faculty’s capacity in the field of computer science, the other is to establish a dense network between the faculty’s departments and other relevant RUB and UAR departments. The expected methological skills should contribute to enhance the scientific network in the area of “metropolis research”, which is currently being established within the UAR. Furthermore, the perspectively founded Centre for Environmental Resources Management should pave the way for numerous interdisciplinary projects, which aim at improving the faculty’s research focus in environmentally relevant subjects in a sustainable manner.
A Ph.D. degree is mandatory. The candidate has changed his/her university employer after the Ph.D. phase or was employed in research at least two years at a different University from RUB.
