At the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg the following position is available:

W1 Junior professorship (W1) with tenure track (W3) in Digital Health

We are looking for a candidate with research interest and experience in the field of data processing and analytics of health-relevant data. The focus on Digital Health goes beyond traditional healthcare by fusing new heterogeneous/multimodal clinical data types (imaging, molecular diagnostics, electronic health records, etc.) with services and data obtained by direct patient participation (via mobile devices and sensors) into a joint analysis framework. The candidate combines modern approaches from the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning to accomplish the aforementioned key aspects of Digital Health. The professorship is located at the Medical Faculty and embedded in the newly founded Center for Biomedical Informatics. A close cooperation with the Center for Information and Medical Technology (ZIM) of the University Hospital Heidelberg and the clinics and institutes is desired.

In accordance with Section 51 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act), this appointment requires a completed degree, an excellent doctorate, and pedagogical aptitude which has generally been proven through teaching experience. The professorship is a qualification position. If you spent time employed as a research assistant (before or after your doctorate), this employment and the period of your doctoral studies combined should not exceed six years.

Tenure Track Professorships (salary grade W1) at Heidelberg university will initially be limited to six years in general and, following a positive tenure evaluation, will be converted to a permanent W3 professorship. Provided that the general legal (German civil service law) and budgetary regulations are fulfilled, it is intended that the employment will have civil service status.
