3 Open Topic Tenure Track Professorships
Future of Work

(W1 / Assistant Professor)

The professorships are to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointment will be extended for another three years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 or W3 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.

We seek to appoint top early career scholars who will develop outstanding expertise in the field. The professorships are financed with funds from a Federal and State program for supporting young researchers at German universities. All professorships are intended to make significant contributions to the FAU key research priorities. This call for applications addresses outstanding early career scholars with the ambition of developing their own profiles and careers as part of the strategic development of a key priority in cooperation with renowned scholars at FAU ('Open Topic Tenure Track'). The three positions announced in this call for applications will strengthen research and teaching in 'The World of Work'. The successful candidates will be invited to take an active role in the key research priority 'The World of Work' at FAU, the interdisciplinary center LASER and the Center for Management, Technology and Society (CMTS).

The Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law seeks to appoint three W1 professorships at the School of Business and Economics. The professorships will be associated with the research focus area 'Change in the World of Work' and ideally offer links to one or more further research focus areas at the School. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to degree programs at the School.

The first W1 professorship is for Empirical Labor Economics. We welcome applications from candidates who are prepared to collaborate with the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and have expertise in Big Data.

The second W1 professorship is for Business Psychology. We welcome applications from candidates with a research profile that strengthens the research focus area 'Change in the World of Work' in the fields of personnel, work and organization and can ideally contribute to one or more further research focus areas at the School.

The third W1 professorship is closely associated with the research focus area Digitalization of the Economy. We welcome applications from candidates with a research profile that links the Megatrends Future of Work and Digitalization and ideally focuses on the needs of the individual in the organization of the future. Willingness to collaborate with the Fraunhofer working group Supply Chain Services (SCS) and contribute to the School's degree program in Information Systems is desirable.

Successful candidates demonstrate initial academic achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or experience in managing research projects and in raising third party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites.

FAU expects applicants to become actively involved in administering academic affairs and in developing strategic initiatives. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.

FAU offers career development, mentoring and an attractive initial research budget. Based on international standards and transparent performance agreements, FAU ensures a fair tenure track evaluation process.
