for appointment at the earliest possible date. The position on offer has an initial limited term of 5 years and shall be located at the Institute of Microbiology.

We are seeking an internationally recognised expert with a strong research record in the field of functional bioanalytics. The applicant has experience with bioinformatic analyses, integration and visualisation of complex (meta)omics datasets, providing data repositories and data transfers in collaborative research projects, as well as both the interpretation and validation of integrated biological datasets. Participation in local collaborative research projects (https://www.uni-greifswald.de/en/research/research-profile/research-projects/) such as the DFG Research Unit POMPU and the Research Training Groups 1947 ‘BiOx’ and 2010 ‘Response’ is expected. The candidate will be strongly encouraged to establish an independent research group by raising external funding.

Furthermore, the professor will be expected to contribute to the teaching of microbiology in the bachelor’s degree courses in biology, biochemistry, biomathematics, human biology as well as environmental science and in the master’s degree courses in molecular biology and physiology. We expect the candidate to be able to teach in English as well as in German. The candidate should be willing to work in academic bodies of self-governance. International experience is desirable, but not essential.

The professorship is funded by the Bund-Länder Programme for the Promotion of Young Scientists. We therefore particularly encourage early career scientists to apply. Applicants must meet the legal requirements of general employment law as well as the employment requirements stipulated in § 58 Landeshochschulgesetz M-V (State Higher Education Law). In addition to a doctorate, candidates must prove outstanding scientific achievements.

The professorship is filled for an initial period of five years (§ 61(1) LHG M-V). The position is provided with a tenure track (W2). Appointment to the permanent W2 professorship requires the position holder to meet the requirements for appointment. Furthermore, the candidate’s suitability for appointment to the permanent W2 professorship must be determined as part of a corresponding appointment procedure (§ 58 ff. LHG M-V analog).

This vacancy is open to all applicants, irrespective of gender. The University would like to increase the proportion of women in areas in which they are underrepresented and thus applications from women are particularly welcome and will be treated with priority if they have the same qualifications and as long as there are no clear reasons which make a fellow applicant more suitable. Severely disabled applicants with the same professional and personal qualifications will also be considered with preference.

Please include only copies of documents in your application, as these will not be returned. Unfortunately, application costs will not be reimbursed by the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
