Learning Analytics in Medicine

 

commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship will be located at the Institute of Medical Education, University Hospital of LMU Munich.

Applicants are expected to represent the area of learning analytics as part of the Institute of Medical Education in research and teaching. We are looking for a nationally and internationally scientifically proven personality who will establish and structurally develop the scientific activities in the field of personalized intervention research in learning and educational processes and thus give the area a forward-looking profile. The position entails the leadership of a scientifically active interdisciplinary team at the site. We are looking for a candidate with in-depth knowledge of the methods of learning analytics and machine learning (AI) and their application in the field of com-puter-based assessment of teaching, learning and problem-solving processes. Ideally, applicants have been acquired qualifications both in informatics and psychology or pedagogy. An involvement of the professorship in the activities of the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences (MCLS) is expected as well as experience in the field of empirical educational research in medical and interdisciplinary application contexts. Participation in the further development of the interdepartmental research focus on personalized learning and educational processes at LMU Munich is explicitly desired.

LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.

This professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States.
