According to Section 64 (3) of the Higher Education Act of Hesse with a development commitment after a probationary period of 6 years to receive a permanent contract as a W 2 Professor.

The professorship is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States.

The research area should be located in the field of the multiscale theoretical description of composite materials with embedded molecular components. A collaboration with groups working experimentally on respective topics in science and engineering is a constitutive component of this professorship. The main scientific focus to be developed lies in the description of electronic and spectroscopic properties of molecular components, together with the influence of diverse matrices (isotropic/anisotropic, periodic/aperiodic, static /dynamic, etc.), by embedding methods (for example by suitable parametrization or quantum-mechanically) with relevant precision. Relevant scientific publications in this field are expected. Experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects is desired. The development of courses in the area of Theoretical Chemistry which complement existing curricula in science and engineering is expected. It will be possible to participate in the scientific center CINSaT (Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology) of the University of Kassel, where groups from biology, chemistry, physics and engineering are collaborating. A connection to the topic "Chirality" of the existing Sonderforschungsbereich is welcomed.

Together with the new professorships “Granularity of Information in Materials Technology” and “Extreme Light for Structuring Materials” in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the professorship is intended to strengthen the focus area `materials engineering´ at the University of Kassel.

The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 64 (3) of the Higher Education Act of Hessen.

The duration of scientific activity after the doctorate should not exceed four years at the time of appointment. A documented further qualification in the areas mentioned in the denomination, among others, is a prerequisite for the permanent transfer of a W2 professorship. The decision is made on the basis of an evaluation procedure.

The future holder of the position should have didactic competencies as well as relevant teaching experience and be able to present scientific publications in the subject area of the advertisement. Experience in obtaining external funding is desirable. Longer international research stays are required.
